The spindle is measured from the base of the handle to the end of the spindle as shown below.

Handle Screw Hole Fixing Centres:

Most espag handles are designed to conform to industry standards with 40mm between the screw hole centres. Consequently, it doesn't matter if you choose a style that's different to your existing handle, so long as the handle centres measure 40mm, the handle will fit.
