At Security Hardware, our aim is to help homeowners protect their properties with the highest security door and window hardware available from leading brands on the market.
So, it’s no surprise that once again the Security Hardware team is supporting National Home Security Month
NHSM is an annual campaign designed to raise awareness of the importance of home security ahead of the vulnerable autumn and winter months. And the 2022 campaign is set to be bigger and better than ever to celebrate NHSM’s tenth consecutive year, with activity spanning in-stores, online and over the radio waves.
National Home Security Month, founded by home security brand, Yale, runs throughout October, coinciding with the clocks going back and darker nights creeping in. These changes make for the perfect conditions for break ins, explaining the annual incline in domestic burglary claims at this time of year.
According to research from the ONS, three in five burglaries occur during the hours of darkness, or during dawn or dusk1, signalling to homeowners the importance of ensuring their home security is up to scratch for the darker seasons ahead.
But recent statistics from Yale highlighted that Brits are no more concerned about their home security during the winter months, when nights are longer, than during the summer2. With this lack of awareness surrounding the increased risks to homes at this time of year, NHSM has once again returned at the perfect time, encouraging exposure on the importance of effective home protection.
Focusing on the front door is a great place to start for a home security upgrade. As burglary attack methods continue to become more sophisticated, homeowners need the reassurance of a high-security lock or cylinder to protect their homes. And with 23% of burglars gaining access to a home through a front door2, a secure lock, of which we would recommend a 3-star cylinder, will provide significant protection against a range of burglary attack methods.
At Security Hardware, we stock a wide variety of door locks and cylinders both online and in-branch, from a range of trusted brands including Schlosser, ERA and Yale. Opting for branded security products will ensure that these have been tested to industry standards, offering the highest level of protection for homes.
Alongside a door security upgrade, it’s wise not to forget about suggesting updates to windows too. Burglars can spot inferior window locks and handles a mile off, and with 46% of burglaries occurring via a property’s windows2, it should be an area of focus for homeowners.
From window handles to window locks and a range of tilt and turn products, Security Hardware has a range of high-security window solutions available to ensure you’re stocked up in this area.
To celebrate this tenth-anniversary campaign, we will be running online and in-store promotions to help make stocking up on high-quality security solutions even easier.
Running from Monday 3rd October until the end of the month, customers can receive 15% off sitewide across the entire security range using code ‘SECURE15’, with a number of great product deals also available in our Willenhall branch.
